Saving searches

You can save a search query for future use. You must be registered and logged in to Engineering Village to save searches. Once you save a search, you can view, rerun, modify, change the name, or delete it. You can save a search from two locations in Engineering Village.

Save a search from the Search results list

Above the search results (in the query bar) click Save search . The Save search link changes to Remove search with a green check mark.

Save a search from the Search history tab

  1. Select Search in the Engineering Village navigation bar.
  2. Scroll down and click Search history. The Search history page opens.
  3. If you have more than one search query listed, locate the row containing the search you want to save.
  4. From the Actions column, click the Save search icon for all search queries that you want to save.

    The search query now appears on the Alerts and Saved searches page.

    You can have a total of 260 saved searches and email alerts at once.

View saved searches in the Search history

  1. Hover over Search at the top of any Engineering Village page.
  2. Scroll down and click Search history. The Search history page opens.
  3. If you have completed more than one search in the current session, locate the row containing the desired search query. The green check mark in the Saved search icon indicates that the search has been saved.
  4. From the Search query column, click More details if you want to see more information about the search query.

Rerun saved searches in the Search history

To rerun a search, click the search query link in the row of the saved search. The search results display beneath the Search history box.

Edit saved searches in the Search history

  1. Hover over Search at the top of any Engineering Village page.
  2. Scroll down and click Search history. The Search history page opens.
  3. Locate the row containing the desired search query.
  4. Click the Edit search query icon . A new Search form opens that contains your original search query.
  5. Enter your modified search query in the Search box.

Delete saved searches in the Search history

To delete an individual search, click X in the row of the saved search to remove it from Search history.

Note Deleting a saved search also automatically deletes its associated email alert (if an email alert was created for the saved search).

This page contains various information about each of your saved searches:

  1. Click the additional options menu in the main navigation bar of any Engineering Village page. The menu opens.
  2. Click Alerts & Saved searches. The Alerts and Saved searches page opens.
  3. View your saved searches on this page.
    NoteAdditionally, you may create email alerts from your saved searches on the Alerts and Saved searches page. Refer to Email alerts.

  1. From the Search query column, click the linked search query. A new Search page opens that contains your original search query.
  2. Enter your modified search query in the Search box.

Edit the name of a saved search

The default name of a search is a truncated form of the saved search query. You may modify this name to a more preferable name.

Note The name of a saved search can be edited only from the Alerts and Saved searches page.
  1. From the additional options menu from the top right side of the page, the menu opens.
  2. Click Alerts & Saved Searches. The Alerts and Saved searches page opens.
  3. From the Name column, click the pencil icon to open a text entry box.
  4. Enter a name for the search query in this text entry box.
  5. Click Save. The Name column displays the new name for your search query.
    NoteThe name is limited to 32 alphanumeric characters. Additionally, spaces and underscores (up to the 32-character maximum) are permitted in the name.
